TO SPARE your blushes next time you take the children on a country walk, sit them down beforehand with Fungus Fred. This will save you having to vague out over whether something is a toadstool, a mushroom or just plain weird.

Fungus Fred has helpful friends: librarian Ms Brown and mycologist Dr Blewitt. They are cloyingly cute, but grit your teeth, because they do a grand job.
