You can catch Paul Nurse, head of the Cell Cycle Laboratory at Cancer Research UK, at this year’s Cheltenham Festival of Science, 4-8 June. He’ll be talking about winning a Nobel prize for his part in the discovery of key regulators of the cell cycle.

Nurse is off to New York in November to become the ninth president of Rockefeller University. He’s reading Alistair Cooke’s America (Weidenfeld & Nicolson, 2002) because “I have never really understood America, but am trying to do so now, given that I am moving there later this year.” He’s also reading about somewhere rather more…
