John Maynard Smith is a fellow of the Royal Society and is still a professor of biology at the University of Sussex. He has published a raft of papers and books, of which the most influential are The Theory of Evolution, Evolution and the Theory of Games, The Major Transitions in Evolution, and The Origins of Life: From the birth of life to the origin of language.
