WE’RE TO BLAME

Climate modellers have taken an important step forward in their efforts to show that humanity is to blame for global warming. There is already strong evidence that natural variability is unlikely to be behind recent changes in average global temperatures. Now the UK’s Hadley Centre for Climate Prediction and Research in Bracknell claims to have shown the same for each of the six continents. The work was tougher than for the earlier findings because natural fluctuations in average temperatures over a single continent are greater than at the global scale, where local fluctuations often cancel each other…
