YOU need to have an interest in a whole range of scientific studies to take all this in. Subjects as widely separated as communication between elephants (amazing), Greenland ice (revelatory) and false memories (tampering with autobiography) impose serious choices. And, of course, even though they are all worth reading, the pieces do vary in style and quality. Included is the essay on attitudes to the 9-11 attacks from Skeptical Inquirer that some found objectionable.
