SARS vaccine fear

CHINA’s plan to start the first human trials of a vaccine against SARS has some scientists worried. The government news agency Xinhua announced last Saturday that trials of a vaccine would start before the end of December.

Yin Hongzhang of the State Food and Drug Administration says the vaccine, made of killed SARS virus, has been shown to protect monkeys from SARS, and that 1400 doses have been made, with 20,000 more on the way.
