The fly that shouldn't be able to

A SPECIES of fly has been discovered that has one wing significantly larger than the other. Yet despite this handicap, it is still capable of taking to the air.

Justin Runyon at Pennsylvania State University in University Park and Richard Hurley at Montana State University in Bozeman studied male flies brought back from the Amazon. When examined under a microscope, all had a chunk missing from their right wing, which accounted for around six per cent of its area.
