Gene for non-hereditary breast cancer is discovered

FOR the first time a gene that plays a role in the development of some non-hereditary forms of breast and ovarian cancer has been identified. The discovery is not likely to lead to new treatments straight away, but it should give doctors a more accurate idea of patients’ chances of survival and help ensure they receive the most appropriate care.
