THE genius of Albert Einstein and Isaac Newton was enhanced in May with news that both may have suffered a form of autism known as Asperger’s syndrome.

The condition is not known to cause learning difficulties, but sufferers show symptoms of obsessive interests, difficulty in social learning and problems communicating.

Although Einstein made intimate friends, had numerous affairs and was outspoken on political issues, as a child he was a loner, and repeated sentences obsessively, according to autism expert Simon Baron-Cohen at the University of Cambridge.
