IT’S isolated, geologically diverse, biologically amazing and very, very threatened. Just about everything on Madagascar seems to occur nowhere else, except, that is, for Homo sapiens. That recent arrival seems as intent on wreaking havoc here, as it has everywhere else in its wide range.
