No modified crops for UK

No genetically modified crops will be grown in the UK in the immediate future. Bayer CropScience announced on 31 March that it was abandoning plans to launch its herbicide-resistant Chardon LL maize, the only GM crop to get close to full approval. Uncertainty over issues such as compensation for contamination mean it is not economically viable, Bayer says.
