No shame in not knowing

Expert witnesses in “cot death” murder trials have unjustifiably incriminated mothers, says a UK report covering a spate of high-profile acquittals. “Doctors should be willing to say ‘I don’t know’ without shame or inhibition,” says the report, released on Monday by the Royal College of Pathologists and the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
