Nuclear waste? No thanks

Kyrgyzstan has blocked a shipment of 1800 tonnes of uranium-contaminated waste from the UK’s nuclear power programme, following opposition from environmental groups. British Nuclear Fuels had been planning to process its contaminated graphite at the country’s Kara Balta uranium processing facility (Âé¶¹´«Ã½, 25 September, p 15).
