A THOUSAND tonnes of redundant toxic pesticides will set sail for the UK in the next few months. But the lethal cargo is unlikely to face the kind of environmental opposition that greeted four ships contaminated with PCBs and asbestos when they sailed into Hartlepool last year. That’s because the pesticides, if left where they are, would threaten the lives of thousands of Ethiopian villagers.
