ALAN TENNANT tried to track the astounding journey of migration that the peregrine falcon makes from the coast of Texas to the Arctic. He fastened a transmitter to a bird and followed its track in an aircraft piloted by a former stunt flyer.

On the Wing is nothing less than a stupendous. Tennant is a superb writer. His prose is vivid, immediate, poetic and evocative, a sheer pleasure to read.
