Can’t wait for Apple to produce an iPod that plays videos? You don’t have to. The Linux open-source movement has created proof-of-concept software that can run videos on most iPods, provided the video files have first been uncompressed. Using uncompressed files enables the program to convert the proportions of the video frame to match the iPod’s low-resolution screen, say the developers.
