Talking heads may replace texts

DON’T send text messages, send talking photos instead.

Seestorm, a Russian company based in Moscow, has devised a way to allow phone owners to take a picture of themselves using a cellphone camera, and then attach a voice or text message to the file. The person they are calling receives an animated version of the picture in which the caller’s eyes and mouth move as they appear to speak the message.

The company uses software on its servers to slice up the message into its component phonemes and then match these to mouth and eye movements in its library.
