Long stormy summer to come in US

Floridians take cover. The hurricane season is off to an early start.

On an average of past records, the year’s first named tropical storm should be recognised on 11 July, with the first category 1 hurricane on 14 August and the first category 3 on 4 September. But Dennis, this year’s first hurricane and fourth named storm, had already reached category 4 and hit the Florida peninsula on 10 July. It reportedly killed at least 27 people in Cuba and Haiti and at least four in the US.
