Do not ditch the stylus just yet

USING a stylus to enter data on a PDA, tablet PC or other hand-held device is an exercise in frustration. You either tap the letters one-by-one on a virtual keyboard, or rely on handwriting-recognition software to identify your scrawl. But for speed, neither method comes close to touch-typing.

Now IBM has developed a way to write with a stylus that lets users reach 80 words per minute with minimal training. It’s called Shark (shorthand-aided rapid keyboarding).
