A virtual guard dog that can detect break-ins and transmit pictures of the intruders to the owner via videophone will soon be protecting homes in Japan. The Roborior, developed by Sanyo Electric and robot maker Tmsuk, uses infrared sensors to detect a break-in and a digital camera to film the burglars in the act.
