The US military is attempting to give its pilots super-sharp vision. The Pentagon has awarded a $3.5 million grant to PixelOptics of Roanoke, Virginia, to develop a variable lens for flight goggles that will compensate for subtle optical defects that cannot be corrected with conventional lenses. An array of elements will be individually adjustable to correct imperfections of the wearer’s eyes.
