A lens designed to help visually impaired people use chip-and-PIN keypads more easily is also helping stop thieves “shoulder surfing” for people’s PINs. The lens forms the lid of a cradle that holds the key pad, enlarging the view for the user directly above it, but it also distorts the view from any other angle, says inventor Neil Radford of the University of Warwick in the UK.
