Time to turn the tables on 'big food'

OUR species is the first to turn its food supply into one of the biggest threats to its health. One in three children born in the US today will develop adult-onset diabetes, and heart disease and other diet-related illnesses are rampant. Worldwide, 1.2 billion of us are now overweight, close to the number who are underweight. The Earth bears the consequences of toxic pesticides, while agricultural monocultures strip the land of topsoil and water. We are witnessing a crisis, which is described in alarming detail by these authors.
