Editor Brian Greene’s predilection for string theory shines through in a mind-boggling piece by physicist Juan Maldacena. Don’t skip Greene’s introduction: intriguingly, he argues that high schools should offer a class where students read popular science writing rather than textbooks. They would find plenty of inspiration in this book.
