First regulation for nanoproducts

Being hard to see doesn’t make you invisible to the law. Nanoproducts are to be regulated for the first time, the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has decided.

The products in question currently include (normal-sized) washing machines, food containers and shoe liners that all contain germ-killing nanoparticles of silver. There have been fears that the particles might also harm microscopic flora in the wider environment.
