Collider nears completion

The final superconducting main magnet for the Large Hadron Collider was delivered to the CERN particle physics lab near Geneva, Switzerland, on Monday. A total of 1624 magnets will bend and focus counter-rotating beams of protons as they speed around the 27-kilometre LHC when it starts operating next year.
