Cloned meat is safe to eat, says FDA

“PRIME steak? Certainly. Would you prefer that medium or well done, and cloned or uncloned?” As meat and dairy products from cloned animals come a step closer, this might soon be a choice Americans can make.

“Meat and milk from clones and their offspring are as safe as food we eat every day,” says Stephen Sundlof, director of the US Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Veterinary Medicine, which on 28 December delivered its long-awaited verdict that meat from clones of cattle, pigs and goats is safe to eat.
