What a good idea

American scientists and engineers are thinking very hard at the moment about “creativity”. Dr Maurice J. Kelley discusses the question of how creative thinking can be stimulated in our luxurious and modern civilisations in the latest edition of Chemical and Engineering News.

In his article Dr Kelley puts forward a new technique that is known as brainstorming and which is intended to help to overcome the barriers to outlandish thinking that occur in our more rigid contemporary society. “Brainstorming can be defined as group-ideation, uninhibited thinking – a problem-oriented ‘bull session’, ” says Dr Kelley.…
