Jungle VIPs

By Adrian Barnett

30 May 2007

NICK Gordon spent over a decade in cramped hides and tree-top bivouacs filming the wildlife of the Amazon. His first love was monkeys, and it shows in the wonderful images adorning this book. It left me wanting a text with slightly more science, and a section on how the images were obtained – and the difficulties involved – would have made a fitting memorial to this dedicated photographer, who died of a heart attack in Venezuela in 2004. However, as a popular tribute to the diversity and elegance of Amazonia’s primates, this is hard to beat.
