'Terror' restrictions could be a blow to research

AMERICA’S proposed “anti-terror” regulations regarding dangerous chemicals could stymie research at US universities.

Last month the Department of Homeland Security produced a draft list of 344 chemicals that it wants tracked, both by industry and universities. “There’s a vast difference between risks at chemical plants and universities,” says Peter Reinhardt, director of environmental health and safety at Yale University.
