Free online software tools are great, but what if you need one while you’re working offline? Google has launched a suite of software tools called Google Gears that lets developers modify applications to allow them to store data on your computer so that they keep running even offline. So far Google has used Gears to modify its news and blog feeds programme Google Reader, and is working on word processor Google Docs.
