Despite a huge outpouring of goodwill following hurricane Katrina, large amounts of aid failed to reach the victims. To prevent a repeat of this fiasco, researchers at the University of California, Berkeley, are developing a web tool called iCare to match disaster victims with donated goods and services. One of its functions will be to find space on trucks heading into disaster areas.
