Gene therapy reprieve
An experimental gene therapy trial to treat arthritis is to continue despite the death of a patient. The trial was suspended in July after the death of 36-year-old Jolee Mohr, but the US Food and Drug Administration concluded on 26 November that Mohr died from a fungal infection completely unrelated to the gene therapy, which was developed by Targeted Genetics of Seattle, Washington.
