Future Mars explorers may take a glorified beach ball to the Red Planet. Angstrom Aerospace in Uppsala, Sweden, has designed a spherical plastic rover that inflates on landing with xenon gas pumped from an internal cartridge. The sphere rotates when a motor forces a pendulum inside to move forwards. Cameras and sensors inside would allow it to study areas of interest.
