Paris who?

BIBLIOMETRY – what a lovely word! The analysis of books and other publications would, you might think, be an exact science. Its subject matter is, after all, down in black and white. Who published what and when: because it’s so clear, the advocates of accountant-driven research have had little trouble convincing administrators that publication counts are the way of the future in choosing who deserves to be allocated funds.
