Gizmo: 'No-touch' screens

You could soon control your iPhone, iPod or MacBook simply by wafting your fingers above the touch pad or screen. Apple is patenting a way to embed arrays of infrared LEDs and light-sensing photodiodes in touch screens (). These sense when a fingertip is hovering above a button, activating additional functions to those available by making contact with the buttons.
