Blood test could predict IVF success

PATTERNS of gene expression in a woman’s blood may give a clue as to whether she is likely to get pregnant using IVF. This could help couples decide whether to go through with the fertility treatment, which is expensive and raises hopes, but often fails.

Cathy Allen of the in Dublin, Ireland, and colleagues analysed the expression of thousands of genes in blood taken from eight women before they were implanted with an IVF embryo.
