Americans would pay more for green energy

THE political system is often out of touch, especially when it comes to the environment. A poll shows that although Americans would pay extra for green electricity, Congress still wouldn’t pass a bill to that effect.

In a survey of 1010 US citizens, Matthew Kotchen of Yale University found they favoured a clean energy standard, provided it added no more than 13 per cent to their annual electricity bills on average.
