Deforestation in the Amazon continues during COP30

While delegates gathered in Belem, around 180 kilometres away, in Tome-Acu, trucks transported wood from a deforested area of the Amazon rainforest

While delegates gathered for COP30 in Belém, Brazil, around 180 kilometres away, in Tomé-Açu, this truck transported wood from a deforested area of the Amazon. Deforestation was one of the items on the agenda at this year’s UN Climate Conference, which was ongoing when Âé¶¹´«Ã½ went to press. A study this year found that deforestation could bring more extreme heat and rainfall to the Amazon.
