Paul Davies

Bio

Paul Davies is a theoretical physicist, cosmologist, astrobiologist and best-selling author. He is Regents’ Professor and Director of the Beyond Center for Fundamental Concepts in Science at Arizona State University. His research has been mostly in quantum gravity, with application to the early universe and black holes, and on the nature of time. More recently he has worked on the origin of life, the search for life beyond Earth, and the deep evolutionary roots of cancer. Among his many awards, he received the Templeton Prize in 1995 in a ceremony in Buckingham Palace, the Faraday Prize from The Royal Society, and was made a Member of the Order of Australia. He also has an asteroid named after him in recognition of his work on cosmic impacts. Davies has written over 30 books, the most recent of which is , published in November 2025 by Penguin.
