Tom Rivlin is a postdoctoral researcher at the Vienna University of Technology in Austria. He has a PhD in physics with computational physics from University College London, and a first-class MSci degree in physics with theoretical physics from Imperial College London. His areas of expertise are computational and theoretical aspects of quantum mechanics. He is currently doing research in quantum thermodynamics, in particular the modelling of measurement in quantum theory as a thermodynamic, entropy-increasing process. He has written for the mathematical magazine and the Caltech blog .
