The Middle man

Question: Hernando “Stout” Cortez is said to have climbed a tree on the
Isthmus of Panama and seen both the Atlantic and the Pacific oceans from his
vantage point. Are there actually any locations on the isthmus (or elsewhere)
where this is possible?

Answer: One can indeed see both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans on a clear
day from the Republic of Panama.

My grandfather, the Reverend S. Moss Loveridge, lived in Panama between 1900
and 1919 and he records in his autobiography, Panama Padre, how he
climbed Balboa Hill, which is now known as Cerro Grande…
